Note about Hybrids
As of right now, Hybrid breeding is not open. However, if you own a hybrid character(likely from a giveaway), you may breed them with one of the two species they are a hybrid of. They'll temporarily act as if they are of that species instead of being a hybrid. So you can breed a Ketep with a Ketahori, but it will act as if both parents are Ketep, and ignore any Ketzateri traits from the hybrid parent.
(This note will be removed later, when Hybrids are completed and released.)

Breeding Rules
Rules may be added to or adjusted as needed.
1. Breeding adopts must be done by an approved staff member only! They will handle your requests for you.
2. You can breed with adopts owned by other members, but both of you must post the request or they must reply to the request thread approving it. (You can discuss possible pairings in PMs, but we, the staff, need to have proof both parties are agreeing to the breeding request.)
3. Female adopts can only be bred once a month. Males can breed 3 times a month.
-This is counted via calendar month, not a set number of days. So, yes, technically you could breed a female on the last day of one month, and then again on the first day of the next month. The limit is purely there to cut down on work load for staff, not there for realism sake.
4. You will receive the adult designs of the cubs, but, depending on the species, there is a set number of days till the cubs are considered adults in terms of being able to breed.
5. To request a breeding, post a form on the Breeding Requests thread.
6. You can use this sub-board for finding a breeding partner, discussing cubs, or anything else related to breeding.
7. For any breeding request to be approved, you must have a Breeding Token. Basic Breeding Tokens cost 500 tek and only one is needed per pairing/request, not per parent(so if the other parent belongs to someone else, only you need the Breeding Token). *Hybrid Breeding Tokens cost 1000 tek. Token will be removed from your inventory after approval of request. Kelda's shop will have tokens available at all times!
*Hybrid tokens are not needed for any Ketio/Ketio crossings, even if they aren't the same race of Ketio. Hybrid tokens are only required for Ketio/Ketep, Ketio/Ketzateri, Ketep/Ketzateri crossings.
Breeding Info
Cub Growth
The different species have different growing times, so here's how long each take to be considered adults, and thus are breedable themselves.
-Ketzateri take 12 days.
-Ketep/Ketahori take 18 days.
-Capareon Ketio/Ketliahiet take 24 days.
-Snow/Tundra/Southern Ketio/Ketborloit take 30 days.
Originally we were going to do the lore based aging, with 1 day being 1 ERRA month, but that would mean Snow/Tundra/Southern Ketio would take 108 days to become adults... Who really wants to wait that long
Ketio all take between 5 and 9 years to become fully grown, depending on the exact sub species. We instead went with what is roughly the age of sexual maturity for the different species. Ketzateri, 1 year. Ketep, 1 1/2 years. Ketio[Capar./Other] 2 years. Snow/etc. Ketio, 2.5 years, though that would still be too young lore wise even, as they have the longest childhood of all the Ket. If we were truly to base theirs after the lore, it would take 72 days, or "6 years".
How Breeding Works
Genetics wise, breeding works by the staff member using a random odd/even roll to figure out which allele from each parents pair gets passed. So lets say odd is 1st, even is 2nd. Father has: Tt. Mother has TT. Obviously, the mother will only pass "T", so there's no need to roll for her. The number rolled is a 3, so the father passes T, giving the cub two dominant copies of the "T" gene. This is then done for every cub, so please be patient with the staff!
Tip to staff members, there are generators online for Punnett Squares that can also give you all the potential outcomes. If you prefer this method, you can just number the outcomes, throw them into a number generator, and determine genetics that way! However, I'd like to point out that with Ketep, which have one the most simple/fewest pairs of alleles(8 pairs for base color), I did one random test of just the base colors, and it spat out over 200 potential results
(16 x 16 is 256 to be exact!)
Here's a Punnett Square Calculator, for example.
Anyway, the staff handling the request should first figure out the litter size.
-Ketep can have 1-4 cubs*
-Ketzateri only have 1-2. Lowest litter size, but Ketzateri cubs are no worries about a premature death.
-Ketio have 1-3 cubs*.
-Hybrids have to run a gauntlet of chances to even be born... 1-3 cubs are possible, but don't expect a miracle.
*There's a small chance, however, of Ketep/Ketio cubs dying not long after birth. (Chance is calculated individually per cub.) Chance is roughly 10%. Items can be bought and used to prevent a potential cub death for an entire litter.
From there, a simple 50/50 decides if each cub is male or female. (Just an odd/even roll. Staff handling requests can choose which is odd/even.)
Once everything has been decided, the staff member will put together the designs, and from there they are yours to keep or trade.
